Re: Connection cutting out

@VINC3

No action needed. The ONT will connect to port 4 of the home hub. You may have to go into the home hub settings and change port 4 to FTTP mode.

BT would have issues a new Smart Hub 2, if your current one does not have the ability to use port 4 as a WAN connection.

The Deco setting can be left as they are.

@Keith_Beddoe

Thank you @naylor2006

At this point, I have no intention of having BT TV.  The broadband is for 3 x Firesticks, 4 x mobile phones, 1 x Tapo external security camera (ethernet to a Deco satellite unit) and various devices such as Nintendo Switches, Chromebooks and tablets.

Thank you very much.  Screenshot taken!

They will definitely be sending new hub, I have already received communications advising me so.

Also bare in mind with Keith said about port 4 a couple posts above, this wasnt required for me on my installation day but then I already had a port marked red with WAN.

The Deco units are very good with lots of connections. The app gives good information about where each device is connected, and its signal strength.

I have a few CCTV cameras which prefer 2.4GHz only, so I have configured the separate  guest network to be 2.4GHz only, and allowed local access.

Thank you very much

So keep the Deco on Access Point for Operation Mode once FTTP has been installed?

Thank you. Good to know this as I am considered installing another camera and the prospect of having to find another route for an ethernet cable from camera to Deco satellite has been putting me off.

Yeah, you can leave it in access point mode forever now unless you decide to remove the BT Hub altogether which I think you said based on the info here you wont.

@naylor2006 @Keith_Beddoe

Thank you both so very, very much!!!

I have just taken myself up to my son's room and ran a speed test on my phone.  Results below.  Personally, for the package we are on, I think these results are very impressive.  I don't know for sure what they would have been at before, but after everything both of you have done to help today I am very confident you will have improved my set up dramatically.

69.5mbps download

17.2mbps upload

Yeah you are set up just right for the FTTP coming in now, your kid should hopefully get a vastly improved latency from FTTP even if the actual package throughput speeds are the same. If it is improved in the short term then great too.
