Unplugging is NOT factory resetting.
BT are talking nonsense, you don't need an internet connection to print.
*I've a Smart-Tank 550 Plus, and thanks to those wonderful people at HP, at one point you did need an internet connection in order to be able to print to it - as could any idiot on the web who could guess the formulaically generated email HP assigned to the printer (no password required)!
So question to our OP, what is the printer model?
You need an internet connection or ethernet.
The issue is no devices can connect, the printer keeps connecting then going into sleep mode. 2 hours set as default.
Openreach are now looking into it and fixing. 99% sure it's a network issue.
To print wireless you do
The laptop is saying connected and the printer is connected to the network. So either it's a frequency issue or something else I can't think of. Keeps tripping into asleep mode.
You do not need an internet connection to print. WiFi within your LAN is totally independent of an internet connection.
Are you sure you haven't got a faulty hub?
Did you factory reset the printer?
At least we now know this is a printer that doesn't require internet. However, one of the "features" of some modern HP printers is that they simply "auto off" after 2 hours. There is no fix for this and no setting you can change to prevent it, it's a feature 😭
@licquorice there are some really questionable features on some HP printers!
*I can supply a screen shot if really necessary!
Ok, it would appear HP+ is an optional add-on for HP printers and once enabled requires an internet connection.
Why on earth anybody would want to limit themselves to having to have an internet connection in order to print is beyond my comprehension.
Instant ink. You can replace cartridges and print as normal if preferred.
All devices need to be on same network as far as I'm aware.
That's funny but I thought the SH2 didn't separate the two bands and therefore one could not turn of the 5Ghz band.
