To Start of with i've got the full fibre 900 using a smarthub2 box.
Been on this plan for over a year now with good results and only the minor issues every now and again that are normally resolved by restarting my hub and xbox x.
However for the past week no matter how many restarts I do I can't seem to get round the issues (ping and packet loss sky rocketing for a second). It's just my girlfriend and I that live here and even when she's not in and the xbox is the only thing connected to the internet the issues still persist. I've tried the check my broadband on mybt which suggests rebooting. Done that and still nothing.
I've also tried buying a powerline adapter and hooking up an ethernet to that but that made things worse. Unsure if it was the adpater itself or the ethernet cable.
Any ideas? Anything I could try changing on the hub?
Connect an Ethernet cable direct from the home hub to the Xbox. If you are using wireless, then you are going to suffer problems, as you will be sharing your wireless channel with other nearby wireless routers, which may have only become active.
WiFi is not infallible and is susceptible to interference which can and does lead to ping spikes. Nothing is going irradiate this as you're relying on a what is effectively a short range radio frequency.
You're far better off running an ethernet cable descretly around the house from the hub to your Xbox.
Our PS5 is connected by Ethernet and it's rock solid.
Let’s keep it simple.
When it comes to connection speed and stability…Wi-Fi = naff….Powerline = naff….direct cable = excellent!. Go figure!
