Garden wifi

Go to solution

I've searched other posts as I know this is a common issue.

I have just had full fibre & smart hub 2 installed.

Previously I had bt hub 6 in house and bt hub5 set up as slave/access point in garden room using a powerline adapter. (Although on different consumer units it worked ok)

Now with SH2 the slave will not work. I can't connect or when it does there is no Internet.

Garden room is approx 15 metres from back of house and SH2  is at front.

Ideally I'd rather not run a cable so looking at the best type of extenders and I've not really used any...any help appreciated.

I have a similar setup the Summerhouse being 20 metres away from the back and the Smart hub 2 at the front of the house. I have 2 complete Wi-Fi discs the Black one from BT. One disc is upstairs at the front of the house the other disc is in the Summerhouse and I Have a great Signal in the house and garden.

Did you set up the slave with a fixed ip? You may need to change the subnet so that it matches the SH2.

Re: Garden wifi

@spile Hi, it was set up following an older thread. I think the ip address of the slave hub is changed at the last block of numbers to 20 or something. Dhcp and firewall is off.

Worked OK until I changed the main hub and service 🙄

I'll check the subnet though thanks.

If powerline is working out there, why not just get a set of powerlines where the remote unit has built in Wi-Fi?

The tp-link ones are cheap at under £40

@dave44 since changing hub and service the powerline isn't working in garden.
