Google Nest

Hi all,

New to BT from Virgin, so apologies if this has been covered already.

I have a Fibre 500 with a smart hub 2, which has recently been installed, I wasn't home when the engineer came but he's installed the hub in our bedroom at the rear of the house.

I've ran a Cat5 cable from the hub to my Google nest system but the speed I'm getting from the network (not the BT hub) is around 70 to 85mb. The speed of the BT hub in the front room is around the same but when in the bedroom I'm getting over 400mb.

If anyone can help with the system and setup between Nest and BT some I can get a better speed as it's also in the mini office in the garden which the kids use for school work.

Many thanks in advance

Martin

Re: Google Nest

Where did the CAT5 cable come from and is CAT5 or 5E?

Some older cables only have 4 conductors present which would limit your speed to Fast Ethernet - 100mb/s.

Can you try a Cat6 cable just to check?

Re: Google Nest

Thanks for the reply.

The cable is the one from my Virgin box to the nest, it's handled speeds of 300+ but I'll try another cable to check and come back to you.
