A family member has recently moved and has an outbuilding that the previous owner had wired with an Ethernet.
I naively thought I could buy an access point (TP link one off Amazon) and just plug in and play.
The BT hub is set up in the main house, there is an Ethernet port in the outbuilding with electricity ofc.
Its too far for a wireless range extender.
Am I approaching this wrongly? If so what do I need to be googling to work out how to setup. Thank you!

No, that's all you need to do. Just connect the wap to the hub via the Ethernet cable and you're good to go.
Good to know!
I'm getting 'no Internet connection' when trying to connect so I'll reset everything and try again.
Make sure the Ethernet cable is good for a start. Try connecting a laptop directly via the cable to prove it's ok.
Solved it - I had the connection from master socket to hub but not hub back to Ethernet in the wall in the house - was confusing the two when reading things.
Thank you for telling me I had the right idea as I worked back from there.
Glad you got it sorted
