Mobile not connecting to internet issue

I had an issue with my Samsung mobile not having any internet but saying connect without internet.

I  tried the reboots and forget networks etc.  Nothing worked.

The thing that fixed it was setting my mobile WiFi settings to not use the randomise MAC  as the router possibly saw that as a hack attempt.

Once I set my MAC type to phone MAC all is good, connects every time.

My wifes iPhone was the same but the setting was worded differently. It was Private Wi-Fi address, untick this and it connected. This is a feature in iOS 15 not sure how far back this setting goes.

Just a bit of info in case anyone has issues.

Sorry if this is already posted somewhere.

Re: Mobile not connecting to internet issue

It's possible what you were seeing is a known issue with the BT Hub, whereby it doesn't release IP addresses assigned to particualr MAC addresses, and so eventually runs out of available IP addresses.  This can only be resolved by a factory reset of the Hub.

If this is what was happening then you will presumably have problems if you try to add a new device to your network.

Re: Mobile not connecting to internet issue

Hi, thanks for replying. Yes I have had another look and as you thought it is having issues again with some devices. My wifes iPhone will just not keep connected even after the private address untick. My android has connected no problem since I set it to phone MAC only?? I have gone through the offline devices and cleared them so it should give me a bit of breathing space. I have just had the fibre installed on Monday this week and to be getting issues like this almost immediately is a big let down and worrying. I also set the IPV4 range as custom and used the full subnet but no difference. I have set it back to default. I may have to set all devices to manual IP's which may help with our own devices. I would ideally like to create a few SSID's and separate my streaming device and mobile devices  but this hub doesn't let me do this??? My old Plusnet hub 1 did and it was the old BT hub 1 I believe just rebadged.

I am still in the cooling off period so may have a look around. Not a good start..

Re: Mobile not connecting to internet issue

@Geo65 if you still have your old Plusnet router you could use that as an AP to provide different SSIDs, just make sure it's IP is in the same subnet as your SH2 and does not clash, and also disable DHCP on one of the 2 routers before connecting them ethernet port to ethernet port.

Re: Mobile not connecting to internet issue

Thanks countrypaul, I may just do that. I also have a BT mini disc set that can be configured in a similar way but not investigated those yet.

I will post what I end up doing.

Thanks again guys for all your help.
