Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
I have had EXACTLY the same problem since 23/12/24. Two new SmartHub routers later, BT are still in denial of the problem, although the are sending an engineer to look at it on Thursday.
Router gives the appearance or working perfectly. Blue light etc. After a factory reset all is fine for a couple of hours, then when going to any web page, "Hmmm. Cannot connect to this page," or "Hmmm, Connection interrupted."
Nothing remedies this problem except a SmartHub reboot (occasionally) or factory reset (for a couple of hours).
My laptop is connected directly to the SmartHub by Ethernet cable. My wife's is connected by wi-fi. Her laptop is doing exactly the same thing. When this happens, email stops. Alexa stutters and stops if I am listening to the radio. Digital Voice phone carries on working perfectly, as does heating, lights, and Ring doorbell. Wi-fi still show as active.
When I connect on either laptop via 4G mini-hub (only one bar on EE network!) or tethered to mobile 4G (O2, full signal) all works perfectly, albeit a lot slower than even the FTTC which is the only broadband available here.
I cannot enter the SmartHub settings except immediately after a factory reset. It will not allow me in, stating "insecure connection" sometimes, or the "Hmmm" message
Tech expert at BT viewed live via my mobile to see the problem, and was totally perplexed. I have tried absolutely EVERYTHING, to no avail.
This is driving us mad, as we cannot do much these days without the internet. If I learn anything on Thursday, I will post.

Thanks for your input. Sorry to hear you're having exactly the same problems, but good to hear also!
I am currently on webchat with a guide for the 12th time.

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
@Groo So when the hub goes awol the WiFi fan symbol disappears too? If not, you should still be able to logon to hub manager as @bobpullen suggested.
Although having just read @SludgeIsland ‘s woes, it would appear that’s not going to work either.
One wonders if it’s due to a recent update or something? While it’s frustrating I’d like to think that BT is trying its best to sort it.
There’s some pretty clued up people on this forum too. And it appears they‘re having a bit of a head scratching session too.
At least, from other reports it seems you’re not alone.
Oh, hang on @SludgeIsland says that DV continues to work. So maybe not the same issue. The devil’s in the detail. Personally if DV stops working at the same time then I would be reporting that. It may be the best indicator of where the problem lies…

@SludgeIsland the hub manager page IS an insecure connection in as much as it is HTTP rather than HTTPS. Many browsers object to this although in this scenario it is not a security risk.

2nd dropped connection on 3rd hub overnight. Openreach are coming on Friday as per our engineers suggestion last Friday. He suggested problem with data card at BT Exchange. Digital Voice stayed on this time--- totally baffled.

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
Yep, hub throws tantrum (but thinks it isn't because blue lights stay on) & loses internet & WiFi. Have to restart hub to get it back. The only change has been them insisting on me having a Smart Hub 2 for the DV switchover; that's when the problems started & are still happening 5 weeks on. Now on 3rd replacement Smart Hub!
You are right, lots of head-scratching going on but it's also a bit of relief to know it's not just me. Just spent another 50 minutes 'chatting' to a Guide & they are sending another Openreach engineer out - as this is the 5th & the 1st 3 did all sorts (the 4th was a waste of oxygen 🙂) I doubt it will make any difference but you are right in that BT are trying their best.
They have already been told several times that DV drops too. I have actually now unplugged the phone from the hub because I'll never use it.

When my Openreach guy arrives on Friday, I'll mention the possibility of data card at exchange.

Thanks @Groo for reassuring me that I am not the only one this is happening to. Thanks everyone else for info. Data card at the exchange will be mentioned on Thursday.

@licquorice What’s this “Data card at the exchange… “ ? Do you think they mean the DSLAM?
