Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
I have no idea what they mean, but yes, possibly DSLAM card in the cabinet.
Sorry, but I'm very much of the opinion that the contributors to this thread have unique faults rather than any common problem.

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
I am not totally sure but it is what my last BT Engineer reported to BT last week. He insisted it is not an internal problem. Because of his report they are sending an Open reach Engineer on Friday.
I have 1 laptop 1 I Phone no heating timer & a basic landline plugged in for DV which they insisted we change to when taking out new contract. We have changed nothing internally before this started happening. To my mind it is BT's problem to sort as they are not providing the service I am paying for. If this doesn't get resolved after open reach appointment they will be getting a formal complaint & I will refer them to these posts. They will then have 8 weeks to resolve it before I contact the communication ombudsman.

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
I've just received an email from BT -
Our tests show that there's a fault on our network, so we've cancelled your engineer appointment. We'll have it fixed by 28-Mar-2025.
A bit succinct!

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
I now have my doubts because an hour ago I got a text & an email saying the engineer would come on Thursday (the day I said was not suitable) so I went to faults & changed it back to Friday, then checked via webchat whether he was coming or not. He is, probably, but going to the fault site first. I also changed my email password, just in case the email was a scam.
Words fail me!!!!!!!!!!

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
Just had a visit from QUBE engineer. No notes regarding the issue. I described the problem to him. Not an internal issue. This is a problem with the equipment at OpenReach. Since then I have received 3 SMS messages and an email from BT (automated) saying my fault has been rectified. It hasn't! I have escalated this to the Executive Complaints Team, and suggest you do too, @Groo.

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
Thanks for the update. Seems like you're embarking on the same 'going round in circles' journey I'm still having! BT are very fond of sending SMS & emails, often contradictory. I've had an 'open' complaint for weeks now, which doesn't seem to do much except also send random SMS.
I eagerly await tomorrow afternoon when Openreach is supposedly fixing the network problem that BT have supposedly identified. However, been there, got the t-shirt. At least they keep trying so kudos to them!

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
I finally spoke ro someone who ran a proper diagnostic on the line. I apparently have a Bridge Tap. Basically, it relates to the days when we had party lines, and other households' lines were spliced into the same copper pair. When these were disconnected, they were simply chopped off! It never really affected analogue phone lines too much, but can play havoc with digital signal, bouncing the signal back along the wire, causing all the symptoms both our lines are experiencing.
I'm not saying this is your problem, but worth a mench to the engineer.
Good luck this afternoon!

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
Thank you & I really hope that's fixed it for you! I shall mention that to the engineer, although hopefully he will have fixed the network problem they finally identified, down at the exchange. Why it's taken 5 weeks for them to bother checking for a network fault, despite being told by several engineers, is a bit irritating. Unfortunately I'm away for a week from tomorrow so, considering the fault sometimes doesn't reappear for a couple of days, I shall just have to hope it's fine when I get back.

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
It sounds like you're experiencing persistent WiFi connectivity issues despite the hub appearing to work correctly with blue lights. Since resets and engineer visits provide only temporary fixes, the issue may lie in one of the following areas:
Possible Causes & Solutions
Hub Firmware or Auto-Reset Issues
Some hubs automatically revert settings or restart due to software issues. Check for firmware updates in your provider’s settings page.
Disable any auto-reset or energy-saving features if available.
WiFi Interference
Nearby devices (microwaves, baby monitors, neighboring WiFi networks) can disrupt signals. Try changing the WiFi channel in the router settings.
Signal Strength & Placement
If your hub is near thick walls or metal objects, repositioning it could help.
Consider using WiFi extenders or a mesh system if the signal drops frequently.
Device-Specific Issues
If only certain devices disconnect, check if they have power-saving features that turn off WiFi.
Try “forgetting” the network and reconnecting.
Overloaded Network
Too many connected devices can overload the router. Check how many devices are actively using WiFi and disconnect unused ones.
Since your hub retains the password after a restart, this suggests the settings aren’t fully resetting—possibly indicating a software bug. If the issue persists, you may want to request a hub replacement from your provider.
