Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
Hub is 2.2m from power supply. Yes, I used the new power cable that came with the hub. I don't think that's the problem as hub lights stay lit.
I suspect that hub, being a 'smart' hub, is possibly constantly scanning for best broadband signal & sometimes finds a bad one - that's a wild guess though!
And I have not moved from the laptop, or switched anything else on, when it throws its tantrums.
I'll message BT again later but at the moment (while it's behaving) I can't face the thought of another (8th) long webchat!

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
The only thing in the entire house that is on a timer is the fish tank light & that comes on at 10:00 & goes off at 20:30, which is never when the hub plays up. In fact, the times the hub plays up are completely random.
I hate mysteries!!!

as I suggested in message 26 why don't you try moving your wifi channels from smart to fixed channels ?

Heating thermostat?
As imjolly said, that smart channel function can be turned off and a fixed channel can be set.
Edit: And while I think about it, you've not got the hub close to a cordless phone base station have you? Some (old type) fluorecent lights used to cause interference as well. Unfortunately, the list of what has caused interference in the past is a pretty long one.

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
Heating thermostats only on a couple of radiators &, again, heating times don't coincide with hub tantrums.
Phone is not cordless - it's new enough to work with DV but I only have a simple landline phone as I never use it & don't need a fancy one 🙂
And no fluorescent lights anywhere in property, even the fish tank is LED.
Turning off smart channel function would be an idea, but no idea how to find a 'fixed' channel or how to set it (although presumably can set it in hub manager?).

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
Homepage > Advanced settings > Wireless. Click on the wireless channel dropdown and you get a choice of the best channels to use there. Any will do initially. May need a bit of trial and error to get the best.
Not near the kitchen, is it? Microwave ovens cause all sorts of problems.

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
Sorry, forgot the obvious.
Type 192.168.1.254 into the address bar of a browser. You’ll need the admin password off the card on the back of the hub to make any changes. (That’s the Admin password, not the Wi-Fi password).
Only needs changing on the hub. Your devices will automatically switch to the new channel.

No, long way from kitchen. I'll give that a try. Appreciate your help & sorry for being a non-tech person!
