Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
Yes every time (there have been many) either the engineers or the guides mess about with stuff & do resets, it then appears to be fixed. But never for long, exactly the same as yours. I can't mess about with ethernet cables as the only one is from the hub to the TV; laptop, mobile, printer are all WiFi. I'm sure that the hub is, somewhere, resetting itself to something it thinks is right but isn't, e.g. that thing you mentioned before. Incidentally, I don't have to reset my hub password on anything after I've restarted the hub, it remembers me; I suppose that's one good thing!

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
Solved. Not remote at all.... so not sure what I was looking at with the trace record.
Here's how I solved it.
- Opened the command prompt on my PC and set up a continuous ping by typing "ping -t www.google.com"
- Access the router on my browser and logged in to access the advance mode to access the event logs.
- Waited for the ping to drop and refreshed the event log to see what the router was trying to do at that time.
- Repeat several times until it became evident if any log entry was repeated each time.
- I found this....
Port forwarding rule added via UPnP/TR064. Protocol: TCP, external ports: any->85, internal ports: 85, internal client: 192.168.1.199 Port forwarding rule added via UPnP/TR064. Protocol: TCP, external ports: any->9000, internal ports: 9000, internal client: 192.168.1.199
Went to connected devices to see what device 192.168.1.199 is....it was my CCTV DVR, which is connected to my routed via ethernet. Disconnected the patch lead.... internet access is now sorted, although I can no longer access my CCTV on my mobile phone. I'll probably just need to update the connection.
Hope this helps someone.

Thanks & glad you fixed yours - so has it not dropped at all since?
Hopefully your instructions will help someone, but they may as well be written in Chinese as I have no idea what any of that is! I'll maybe ask my IT-savvy cousin if he knows.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Before I do, would you mind telling me what UPnP is & what it does (or doesn't)?

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
UPnP is effectively automatic port forwarding.
The way things work is that firewalls prevent unsolicited incoming connections and only allow responses to outgoing connections.
Sometimes it is necessary to allow incoming connections such as remotely accessing a CCTV camera for example.
This is normally achieved by opening specific ports via port forwarding. Under certain conditions this can be automated by UPnP where the port is opened and closed without port forwarding having been configured.

"Don't understand why UPnP was causing the problem for @LBO but @Groo you can simply disable UPnP in the hub manager and see if that helps"
@licquorice I thought about that but wondered about my Sky connection as this requires forwarding. Don't know what happens if I remove it - what about port forwarding for smart TVs (I've no got one, just a Sky box) in general. Will turning off UPnP impact those?

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
@licquorice seems that others have added to the original OP’s (@Groo ) request for help. And while, with your help, they’ve sorted their issues, the Original OP is not really any further forward. Saying that, the OP’s had the hub changed multiple times. But the issue’s prevailed. And the fact that DV is affected too surely is not a port issue? But I’m no expert ( despite the ranking here :). Hopefully BT will be able to do a bit more digging and look at the logs to get to the bottom of this.

Re: New hub keeps losing wifi connections, even though blue lights lit
@Groo Just a thought, and it’s probably in hand, did BT appreciate that your DV service was also affected?
Not saying that it’s an issue in your case, but was wondering how such faults would be handled for folks that have care alarms or whatever plugged into their hub and linked to the DV service.
Would such residential ‘phone line’ issues be given a higher priority I wonder? Seems to be taking a while to get to the bottom of it.
