if so- what’s the benefit?

Re: Please confirm my thinking

Cat5e will be more than adequate.

You appear to have Ethernet cabling installed back to a patch panel.

Re: Please confirm my thinking

Thanks again - it’s just for that room though

How does it work? I connect the new Deco to the batch panel and then in the lounge cat5e cable to the AP?

Re: Please confirm my thinking

It's just an Ethernet cable between 2 points with a socket at each end rather than plugs.

Re: Please confirm my thinking

It appears you have two ethernet sockets next to your Openreach ONT, and two ethernet sockets in your lounge.  On the assumption that these sockets are connected by ethernet cables, then yes, you can connect your Deco WAN port to the ONT, and then another port to one of the ethernet sockets, and then an AP in the lounge connected to the corresponding ethernet socket there will work - this should give you better connectivity than using WiFi to connect the AP to the hub.

Re: Please confirm my thinking

Ok here goes.

no identifiable WAN port on the deco- it’s just 3 Ethernet ports so will thumb it into one of them

Re: Please confirm my thinking

It has to be a WAN port, you can't just connect to a random port. If the deco has a router mode, it must have a WAN port.
