Portforwarding HeatApp

Good evening,

Has anyone used a SmartHub 2 to successfully portforward with the HeatHub Application? I have the internal and external ports to be forwarded to, I can connect on Wifi just not 4g or 5g - it would be useful to have extra control for heating in the winter brrrr !

How are you accessing the hub via 4G/5G? Directly with it's public IP address or via a Dynamic DNS service?

Hi I use the Heatapp application on my phone smart hub2 gives the remote access via a hub connected via ethernet cable.

Normally with this type of thing the heating will be connecting to a server and the app getting the information from the server, thus port forwarding is not required. If you are having to forward ports the app must be connecting directly to your hub. It therefore needs to know you public IP address which is dynamic but can be tracked using a Dynamic DNS service.

Either way, the app needs to know your public IP address.

Hi,

the app connects on WiFi when at home I just can’t connect on my mobile using 4g or 5g. I’ve set port forwarding up, it kinda works - WiFi connects ok. How would I give the app my IP Address ? Port forwarding worked previously seems smart hub2 only change, have swapped routers Via BT same problem still. I can give port forwarding rules etc really struggling with this

I'm pretty sure port forwarding isn't required and that you access the Heatapp hub via their server. 

Are you sure Heatapp connect is enabled on the Heatapp hub? See para 3.13 page 12

Thanks for coming back to us. 

Have you tried the settings @licquorice has provided to see if this works for the HeatApp model you're using? 

If the settings are different, do you have the model number/version of the HeatApp hub?
