I have 500mbs fibre and if I’m in the room with the router I get that speed. The rest of the house operates on 3 standalone Unifi POE AP Lite (c6 years old) connected to the BT smart hub via a Unifi switch. They are installed with the same details as the router (WiFi name password))
my problem is that I’m only getting c150mbs walking around the house using the WiFi from the AP’s.
l set up the standalone AP’s without making any setting changes to the router.
I’d be grateful for any thoughts about how I can get a better speed from the AP’s
Best ask Unifi.
If they are each standalone rather than meshed, make sure each is on a different channel so they don't interfere with each other.
Does it change if you turn off the WiFi on the hub?
I suggest you ask on the Unifi forum as it's not a BT problem.
I have installed an AP upstairs which has boosted the wifi around the house (although we use ethernet cable in five rooms where people make work Zoom/Teams calls). Hoever it is not as quick on the AP wifi as on the ethernet cable. My AP is a unifi new one. Once I set it up there were further steps I could have taken but were too complicated for me to bother with which may have meant it was faster but we seem to be okay for now so I just left it.
Hi. I have a new BT Smart Hub with Unifi Gen 1 Switch 8 150w and with 3 Unifi Poe AP Lite. (The Unifi items are about 6 years old) The AP’s are ‘standalone’ from any Unifi +controller and also not controlled by BT. I have 500mbs full fibre but I’m only getting between 50 and 150mbs WiFi around the house. Upstairs is further away from the hub and is only achieving 40/50mbs with the hub WiFi off. Generally turning the WiFi on the hub off as suggested makes matters worse. Can anyone suggest what I need to do to get the WiFi up to near 500mbs around the whole house Thanks
