I wish to wire a RJ12 from back of hub to back of wall socket (dont like phone in current place had to move when joined BT. wall socket already in situ from previous company) as pictures. A: is this possible? B: if so can I use normal 4 strand phone wire? C: what wire colour to which points.
Thanks.

You will most likely need a filter between the socket and the router if so the simplest solution is to plug a filter into the socket which will split the supply into phone/voice (BT socket) and broadband (RJ12).
The SH2 socket is RJ11, assuming you are on FTTC. (I think RJ12s are a bit smaller. I seem to recall they are what is used to connect a handset to the base).
Phone socket is a BT431A. If you are going to do that, an RJ11 socket might be easier, as RJ11 to RJ11 cables are easier to get hold of but it can be done as pins 2 and 5 on the BT plug to the middle two pins on the RJ11. The SH2 doesn’t mind which way round they are.
Cheers WSH thanks for confirming.
are you on adsl or FTTC or FTTP. if using socket on back of hub then you must be on DV so what are you actually trying to achieve by wiring hub to socket?
A good point raised by imjolly.
I’m assuming you just want to connect the router to an extension phone socket and it is ADSL or FTTC. On DV the phone plugs into the phone socket on the back of the hub, of course.
I'm still struggling to understand exactly what it is you are trying to do.
Licquorice BT hub in corner of livingroom, old phone wall socket is in opposite corner from when I was with Virgin Media, Had to move phone to plug into BT hub but dont like it there so want to run a wire from BT hub round outside of house and back through hole to wire it into wall socket where phone used to be.
do you have broadband ADSL/FTTC/FTTP?
do you have digital voice?
