BT sport casting to Chromecast ultra in 4K

The same thing has happened to me today for the Arsenal v Spurs game. Casting from Apple iPhone which shows as BT Sport Ultimate then appears as BT Sport 1 on Chromecast! Can this be fixed please? Thank you

First chance to test it tonight becausevI have been away.

It is chromecasting in 4K but the sound is only stereo not surround.

That's the temporary fix - we had to disable surround sound.
S6001 is occurring because the Google player is failing to decrypt the multi-channel audio stream. There's no valid reason for this, and Google are investigating.

I did message Google and they are unaware of the issue!!!!!!!

We have a dedicated technical rep from Google who works with us on all things related to Google TV and Chromecast. We don't go via the helpdesk that you've spoken to - they won't know anything about what we're doing.
Trust me - it's being investigated, along with many other issues with the latest player on Chromecast.

I do trust you Darren to get something sorted.

But it would help if both the Google help and indeed your BT help were made aware!

I had a wasted trip from a BT engineer and half a days work lost for me waiting for him only for him not to know anything about the problem!

Please can you get a permanent solution sooner rather than later?

I have tried watching Ultimate through the BT app on an Amazon 4K TV box.

I get the 4K picture but again only in stereo rather than surround sound.

This would suggest that it is a problem with the BT Sport app rather than Chromecast.

Is this the case or has surround sound been disabled on the app to all devices?

I've just checked on my Fire Stick 4k and it is playing in Atmos no problem.
I'm not sure if there's an issue that it doesn't provide the multi-channel audio if the device only supports 5.1 and not Atmos. I'll find out tomorrow.

Sorry, cancelled my previous message as it was incorrect.

Currently matches on BT Sport Ultimate can either be Atmos enabled (broadcast in e-ac3), or not (broadcast in ac3). There is then also always a stereo stream available.

e-ac3 (Atmos) decoders can also handle ac3 (5.1)

ac3 decoders cannot handle an e-ac3 stream

So if your device doesn't support e-ac3 then you'll get 5.1 when Atmos isn't enabled for the stream, but you'll only get stereo when it is.
