BT 4600 Compatiability

Hi,

My elderley neighbour had the old version of the BT4000 twin and it had the answer phone service. He asked me to order a replacement set so I did, not realising the BT 4000 now doesn't have answer phone functionality, since been replaced by the BT 4600.

I only realised this after unpacking and installing it all and so too late to return the products.

He still needs answer phone facility so if I buy a BT 4600 single handset, can I register his new BT4000 handsets to it and all work okay?

Alternative it to buy the BT 4600 twin pack and be done with it but it will be a waste of the brand new 4000 handsets.

Re: BT 4600 Compatiability

Hi @mcwatson1974 I don't think what you've suggested will work as the answerphone facility is a feature that is part of the phones base station/cradle so getting a 4600 handset will unfortunately not help.

If changing the handsets is not an option we do have a 1571 voicemail calling feature that your neighbour may want to consider.

Thanks

Neil

Re: BT 4600 Compatiability

Thanks for your response @NeilO

The two BT 4000 handsets I've accidently purchased are the non answer phone versions, so a base station and an additional handset.

I'm thinking of purchasing a single BT 4600 base station that has the answer phone funtion within, and then wanted to register the two BT4000 handsets to it. So the 4600 base is the master, and one of the 4000 handsets becomes the secondary.

Is that possible?

Re: BT 4600 Compatiability

PS. The neighbour is 98 years old so not a chance of getting him to use the 1571 service, it needs to be what he already knows. But thanks for the suggestion.

Re: BT 4600 Compatiability

@mcwatson1974 The 4000 handsets will work as standard DECT cordless phones with another base but all the functionality may not work on the handsets. I'd recommend getting in touch with the product support helpdesk before making your purchase to confirm the set-up will work for your neighbour's needs
