FTTC, not seen on bb checker

Hi, 
my band via bt  is the standard package, I’ve checked the cabinet on sanknows and it isn’t FTTC enabled. Checked with open reach and they didn’t even have details of my house even though I’ve been with by for 20 plus years (house is ancient). Open reach sorted this out and say my cabinet is FTTC enabled but can’t see this on any checkers.

I’ve had relatively good speeds for several years of about 4.5, I think the profile was such that the hub was connecting at about 5.

The valley had work done by open reach several times and bb speed kept decreasing. Now for past few months, hub is. One ting at about 4, actual connection is about 3.5....tv is buffering.

 

just a few questions, has the connection speed limit been set by someone too low? Can this be changed? Open reach say the cabinet is FTTC but I can’t see that and also when I check availability via by site, it only gives 1-3 via normal bband and says nothing about fibre?

 

I know FTTC would only give a small increase but honestly, anythingthing would be an improvement and the fact I was getting a whole mb speed improvement over a year ago and it’s now decreased 8s really annoying!!

 

any advice gratefully received...

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the stats from your router (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser) and if  HH5 then go to troubleshooting then helpdesk and if HH6/SH2 then advanced settings then technical log information . 

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

We have an ipad, a couple of iphones a tv, blu ray and youview and 2 pcs connected along with a printer.

 

The iphones and ipad do appear to disconnect from the WIFI quite regularly.

I've also tried to copy the event log for nearly the last 24 hrs, it's quite long...and the forum says i've exceeded the 20,000 character limit so won't allow me to paste it!!

Any particular bits of the log that are needed? is there anywhere to attach a csv file?

the whole log spans from 17:25:01 as of to day for 24 hrs and has about 750 entries in it.

I'm not sure where the "Max Observed Downstream Speed 3.76" has come from as I regularly got about 4.5 for a few years.....

This may help with stats

From the top Menu > Troubleshooting
> Helpdesk
> Bandwidth

You may be able to gain a little more information from the event log, such as the SNR Margin, shortly after a resync.

Well from dslchecker results there is no fibre available to you. The FTTPoD is something different and more a business product

according to your stats your current connection is 3.4mb

which exchange and cab are you on - you deleted from dslchecker result

have you tried using the test socket with a filter to see if that improves your connection speed by eliminating your internal wiring and master faceplate. If you connect to test socket can you post new stats

The bband line is connected direct I believe it has a plate or something on the master socket and the telephone lines are attached after the bb connection.

I’m connected to Ipplepen exchange, cabinet 1.

the connection at 3.4 sounds about right for now, it was consistently at about 4.5 several months ago for about a year or so ago. Speed went right down after open reach were seen in the hamlet up telephone poles. We’d complain, it would go up, then we’d see the open reach guys around again and the connec,toon would go down again. Eventually had an engineer around, he found something wrong with the connections at a pole, remade the connection and then the speed went up again but has never gone much greater than 3.5 ish.

 

I’ve  heard about some sort of connection setting limit, a bara or brava (?!) that can be reset...has this been set too low?
