Internet speed

Hi,

I have a job which requires an internet upload speed of 9 mpbs.  My account says I have:

Your normal available download speed will be between 31-49 Mbps
Your normal available upload speed will be between 6-9 Mbps

However, the speed barely gets above 6.

What can I do to increase its performance please?

I have cleared browsers, files, defragged etc and used a direct ethernet cable but to no avail.

Advice is welcome B-)

Re: Internet speed

The speeds quoted by BT are connection speeds so up speed is 6/9mb so your actual upload speed will be less so 6mb seems about right

please can you post the stats from your router (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser) and if  HH5 then go to troubleshooting then helpdesk and if HH6/SH2 then advanced settings then technical log information .

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

enter your phone number and post results  remember to delete number   https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

Re: Internet speed

Thank you for your reply.  Here are the stats so far:

16:52 6.79

17:16 6.74

17:32 6.82

17:44 6:73

17:50 6.71

18:46 6.70

It seems that the speed is slowing in off peak/low network traffic times today.

Do you know if there is an account available domestically that offers a speed of 9mbps or above?

Many thanks

Kind regards,

Chris

Re: Internet speed

The problem is the laws of physics and distance from the cabinet I'm afraid, not one of account.

The stats requested is a screenshot of your hub stats page please.

Re: Internet speed

You haven't given your connection stats only the speed reported.

Your broadband speed is governed by the distance of your house to the green cabinet that supplies the signal.

We need to see a screenshot of all the information from Advanced Settings > Technical Log > Information to take a view if your speed is as good as it is going to get.
