Re: MacOs 11 compatibility with Virus Protect
Having upgraded to Big Sur I re-installed BT Virus Protect. As soon as I tried to open the dashboard it just crashed. All I got was the spinning wheel. Surely this software should be working by now?

Re: MacOs 11 compatibility with Virus Protect no j
Hi there @SeanD
I have Virus Protect v4.11.1.0(1015) which includes v4.11.0 (546) of the Firewall
I'm running macOS Big Sur v11.4 on a Mac mini M1.
Firewall still not working. Any updates or advice?

Hi @zippyneil,
Welcome to the Community and thank you for posting.
If you haven't already tried and you try removing and then reinstalling BT Virus Protect
Please give that a go and let me know how you get on?
Thanks,
Paddy

Yes I've tried that - and again just now. Firewall still won't switch on.

Re: MacOs 11 compatibility with Virus Protect no j
Update on this - I ended up buying McAfee on a one-year subscription so I could overcome the problem - but it was still there!
Contacted McAfee tech support, and there was one detail missing from all the help so far...
On your Mac, in System Preferences / Security and Privacy, you need to select "Allow" for apps downloaded from the App Store and identified developers.
Then it's all good.
Hope this helps someone!

zippyneil...
I've been struggling with this issue and finally, your suggestion appears to have overcome the problem. I can now turn on the Firewall within McAfee and everything is now glowing Green.....Many thanks.

Re: MacOs 11 compatibility with Virus Protect
I've just downloaded BT Virus Protect McAfee 4.11 on my mac but the Firewall won't turn on, have followed all instructions listed on this thread but it still won't work. I downloaded the BT virus protect again as the we've been getting messages from McAfee saying Error whilst installing updates, so thought I'd try reinstalling but this hasn't helped and now the Firewall won't turn on - please help

Re: MacOs 11 compatibility with Virus Protect
As of this morning, I have the same problem.
The firewall has been working fine for the past several months but this morning when I switched on it failed to start.
I've done all the usual things but it will not fire up.
I'm stumped.
