Thanks. Not sure I fully understand what you are suggesting. I went through the process below. My Mac works on an ?intel processor and McAfee is also an Intel app so I presume I do not need to install Rosetta. I am back in the loop of - account about to be deactivated, firewall not working, no updates
@NH14 You don't need to bother about Rosetta unless you move to an M1 mac.

So do you have the same issues following the Monterey update - ie McAfee AV - crashing repeatedly, saying the account about to deactivate, firewall not working?
@NH14 no issues here. Mac mini OS fully updated.
maybe reinstall? The install process should delete the old virus protect s/w and reinstate the account.
@NH14 I don't use AV. I'm on an iMac 24 with Monterey.
Been through this process a few times now. Does not fix the problem
