Hello, have Fibre 2. Fibre to external hub and then Asdl/copper to house (approx 75m). Not ‘cable’ n my view but that what BT say. BT state minimum service is 27-32MBs download and as that’s what I get, have not right to exit without fee. However, On BT community it says approx 55. Where can I clarify this?
thanks for your help
You have Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) After the cabinet to your house it is on copper.
Every line is unique and in the instance of FTTC the speed available to your property is dictated by the distance your property is from the cabinet plus some other variables.
What was the minimum guaranteed speed that BT quoted when you took out your Broadband package?
To check what your line can support log onto your BT Hub using this link and go to Advance settings the Technical log. On the Information page copy and post the Data Rate and Maximum Data rate.
Fibre 2 does not guarantee you any faster speeds than you would get on Fibre 1. You can only ever get the speed that your line can support.
Where on the BT Community does it state that your line will get 55Mbps?
Thanks
i googled fibre 2 and got those speeds and this commujity post https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Fibre-broadband/Broadband-Speeds-on-Fibre-1-vs-Fibre-2/td-p/2347676
will check my hub and post
That post you linked to is in relation to some other person's line and as I stated, all lines are unique so it is not relevant to you.
Going by your stats you are getting just below the maximum speed that your line can support which is 43.69Mbps and this is the speed that BT base their minimum speed guarantee on.
What is your minimum speed guarantee?

When you are carrying out a speed test it must be done using a wired connection and not a wireless connection which has too many variables to be accurate, BT along with all the other ISPs do not guarantee wireless speeds.
You don’t really seem to understand this subject, FTTC is a rate adaptive service , basically the further away from the ‘fibre cabinet’ you are the slower the service will be , that’s not you being punished or disadvantaged or deliberately slowed down , its physics.
F1 is upto 55Mb if the line can support it , F2 is upto 80Mb if the line can support it .
You were supplied with an estimated speed when you signed up , if you are getting that speed, then quite correctly you can’t leave penalty free stating you have speed issues , because you don’t ,stating your speed is too slow is obviously incorrect if you get the speed you were told you would get.
Finally , you almost certainly are not 75m away from the cabinet, if you were such a short distance you would get better than the 43Mb you do get , you would get pretty much get the maximum speed of the profile you bought, the speed you do get puts you at around 700m away from the cabinet , not 75m
Thanks for (incorrect) assumptions re my home location . I’m not sure this forum is helpful

If you are 75m from the cabinet , you don’t get 40ish Mb , if that were true that puts you closer to your cabinet than I am from my cabinet ( I’m around 100m away from my cabinet ) and I get the 80Mb sync from my F2 service ….you could have a fault that is reducing your speed but from the partial router statistics you have provided that’s not likely , plus you even admit your speed is inline with what you were told to expect.
This is a very helpful forum , but indulging someone’s incorrect point of view doesn’t help them in any way ,
Exactly, GIGO.
