Hi guys, thought I’d check again and looks like there’s been an update
Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG congested duct.
FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered.
The exchange is not in a current fibre priority programme
As a WLR withdrawal exchange, product restrictions apply
SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange
For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.
For all SOADSL services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.
Actual speeds experienced by end users and quoted by CPs will be lower due to a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises.
In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.
If you decide to place an order for a WBC fibre product, an appointment may be required for an engineer to visit the end user's premises to supply the service
ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL availability: If shown at FTTP or SOGEA premises,ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL are not available to order due to WLR Withdrawal stop sell rules. CPs should order FTTP or SOGEA. Copper products are only available by exception.Thank you for your interest
Does this mean I can order fibre now or do I still need to wait?
It means Openreach can accept an order for the address , it’s not always the case that your ISP (as you are posting on a BT forum I’ll assume it’s BT you will use ) is also ready to proceed (they may need to provide cable links etc ) but assuming BT are also ready then you should be able to order …..the SNN (survey network note) is ‘congested duct’ so it’s possible that some work will be needed to get a new cable from the footpath to your house wall , so any date given may be changed depending if the ‘duct’ is viable or not .
…you have clipped some of the relevant information on the checker which states if it’s a single stage or KCI2 (two stage ) installation , I’d suspect it probably going to be KCI2
@iniltous Just out of curiosity, my entire estate has been flagged “congested duct” but still a 1 stage install.
Someone suggested to me that it is linked to the PIA allowing CityFibre and Virgin to also use the ducts, so it only a case of “may be” congested. I’d be interested to know your opinion on that?
It’s nothing to do with PIA , Alt Nets have access to all Openreach network records and may possibly use publicly available ‘data’ like this when planning their own infrastructure but the survey notes are for Openreach use, Alt Nets are not considered in this respect, in many cases the Alt Net may already be installed before the area has been surveyed by OR for its own FTTP .
If in your case this is a modern housing estate ( post 1990’s) and is ducted with every property showing ‘congested duct’ could be that particular developer , for aesthetic reasons brought the BT/Openreach duct up inside the property (in a garage for example ) rather than the BT/OR preferred method of the duct appearing on the external wall …..generally if the duct mouth can’t be seen but is known to exist, congested duct is the appropriate survey note , even though it’s probably fine , it’s a little odd to flag potential issues with ducts and then to leave as single stage installation but that’s the surveyors decision
Yes, that’s what’s confusing me.
Ducts come up on the front wall and, (by my loose count on walking around), about two dozen houses on the estate have been upgraded. All neat and tidy jobs. No evidence of fresh digging etc.
Thanks for your opinion, anyway.
If the area is ducted and the ducts are visible on the outside wall ( and several have had FTTP installed without any obvious excavation necessary ) then at a guess I would say the surveyor has entered an inappropriate SNN , however on a scale of errors it’s not a particularly egregious one , especially as they put single stage as the installation process , so not much chance of an unnecessary pre installation visit to establish what’s needed , this isn’t a criticism but a lot of older Openreach staff have been offered and have taken voluntary severance/early retirement and many of the ‘replacement’ employees in their roles don’t have the same level of experience.
Thanks for that.
Appreciate the reply.
Your right, the FTTP install process says ‘KC12 Assure’
I’m in contact with Sky for my broadband until January, what’s the most accurate way of finding out if BT/Sky are ready to install?
Shall I just ring them up and ask?
This is a forum specifically for BT Consumer so can't help with Sky but BT will use BT Wholesale so if the checker says it's available then BT can attempt to order it for you.
Yes you can contact BT via 0800 800 150
Or order online at Https://bt.com
@Dsingh1991 check your mysky app and they'll show if upgrades are available or you can call sky and ask. I wouldn't call BT as they'll probably lie to onboard you due to how their staff are incentivesed
