Not great according to the help file, the suggestion is that 2 - 3 bars is good.
Use the Cellmapper website to identify where your best EE mast is located. You might even need an external 4G aerial to get a decent signal, but BT don't supply them.
Otherwise it recommends calling BT on 0800 800 150 if you are struggling to get a good 4G signal.
