New installation

Hi, I'm new to BT and awaiting installation. During the registration/purchase process, I selected an option for self-installation without an engineer but I see that I have to be at home for the serviceman and I can't get any information if is this necessary. The previous tenant had BT broadband. Can I set up everything by myself or do I have to wait for two more weeks for the date to start when the engineer is booked?

Re: New installation

if you are getting FTTC - fibre to street cab and copper to home using existing phone socket then it will be self install but will not be active until presumably the date of supposed engineer visit.  however if you are getting FTTP - fibre to your home then you need engineer visit to install the fibre connection
