I would suggest that you would be far better to install a proper email client such as Thundrbird or eM Client which are stand alone programs that are specifically designed to access your email accounts directly from your email providers servers without faffing about with webmail in any way.
Howver if you feel the need to use gmail to access your BT email account you can set it up by doing the following.
Log onto your gmail account and go to the settings by clicking on the cog at the right hand side.
Click on See all Settings then click on Accounts and Import.
Scroll down to Check email from another account.
Click on Add an email account. A new box will open. Add your email address.
Tick box to use gmailify and then enter your password and follow the prompts.
