Account Cancelled Without Request

Hi there,

A couple of months ago I received a message that someone was trying to take over my account. I contacted BT to have this cancelled (also got an upgrade in the process) and shortly after I started getting the same messages. Thinking this was a mistake as I had already sorted the issue, i ignored it. Three days ago my service was cut off and my account cancelled. I've been in contact by phone a couple of times and they were unable to sort this or just haven't got back to me. I got a message saying I need to pay £300 in disconnection charges which I have no intention of paying as the fault is not my own. I was happy enough with my service and was hoping someone could help to resolve this issue for me and get me back up and running asap. Thanks

This is just a customer to customer help forum, everyone here, including myself, are just customers.

The only BT Employees are the forum moderators.

I have asked a moderator to help.

Hi @Gerardoc,

Thank you for posting. I'm sorry you've been left without service. It sounds like someone has recently moved in and has given your address in error. Do you happen to live in an apartment block or flats by any chance?

Unfortunately, there isn't a quick way to get you reconnected. A new order will have to be placed. The quickest way to get this sorted is by calling BT on 0330 1234 150.

Alternatively, if you don't mind waiting a few days one of the moderation team would be able to do this for you.
