Hey @SpindlyBear91, just out of interest, if your gift card is a 25 character code, did you try redeeming this? Either on Microsoft's redeem website or via the Redeem Code option in the Microsoft Store on PC or Xbox? I only ask, as other people who have found the same problem (BT controlling the account), redeemed a code and found it worked and control of their account moved back to Microsoft immediately.
If you don't have a 25 character code, just ignore this 😁
