The exact same thing has happened to me and basically been told that it is tough and they can’t do anything about it. I returned mine 6 weeks ago, despite multiple emails saying not to worry if the return has not been processed yet, things get lost in that amount of time. Clearly there is an issue at BT where they are not scanning in returned equipment as I have seen multiple people saying the same and they are making money off them. I’ll be putting a formal complaint in as I don’t see why I should pay £190 for something I don’t have and that they most likely have it and have messed up at their end.
