BT informed me that they could only do broadband and a landline for £33 plus other charges for a router - no broadband only.
Why are landline only deals so high?
Why does Age concern state BT will provided landline only when they do not - only if you are on benefits-https://www.ageuk.org.uk/information-advice/money-legal/consumer-issues/changes-to-landline-telephones/
As a nurse who works on a frailty ward this raises the question - what about the vulnerable elderly people who like my mother only have a landline?
In 2025 nearly 2 million people will be over 85 and the number of people with diagnosed dementia will be over one million.

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

The problem is due to the fact that the analogue phone network is closing down, so phone connections will need to be made over a broadband connection. Most of the cost is for the rental of the physical connection anyway.
Look at the BT Broadband Essentials package.

Strange that the BT website says this then.....

Hi @Jo60,
This may be something that I can help you with. Just to be clear, do you have any broadband at your home with any provider or do you solely use it for a land line only?
@garybs29 thanks for posting that. I would recommend everyone checks out this article published by Ofcom in 2021: Protecting prices for landline-only customers
Thanks

YESSS THAT WORKED. FINALLY HAVE A LANDLINE WITHOUT BROADBAND. Only took 4 phone calls - 0800 587 0083 is the only number that can help all other BT employees including managers could not give the right information
