I have also found I can transfer the old app from my old phone and luckily it is still working ok

To be fair usage on BY Broadband is unlimited, so they are not stealing anything.  For te time being, you get to use spare capacity elsewhere on BT routers.

Origially there was IIRC an option to disable sharing, but I think that disappered.
