Bt Wi-Fi

I thought that by downloading the BT Wi-Fi app and adding my BT broadband account credentials, my phone would seamlessly connect to any BT WI-FI hotspot within range. Instead, I see a sign in screen pop up . Is there something else I need to do or is this normal for BT Wi-Fi hotspot connections?

you will need to sign in with BTID and password

No, that's the point of the app, to automate the login process.
