Since I have updated, as supplied by BT, to Norton from Mcafee, I have had nothing but problems, & it turns out, it appears to be the way Norton operates! Last week I was having nothing but issues connection my main PC to the internet via my Home hub, by either WiFi or the hard wired network, to the extent I had to use Hotspot from my Mobile to connect! My laptop, tablet & phone, which all have Norton on them could connect, but not my main PC. It turned out to be an issue Norton was having running the live update, so it blocked my PC. I have tried to adjust the settings but cannot see a way. This morning it has done the same thing. Wouldn't allow me to use my PC until it had finished it's live update. I wouldn't mind if we were talking about 1-5 minutes, but I am talking about 30 minutes! I use my computers for work & pleasure, & need to have access to the web. I use my main PC about 3 - 4 times a week on average, therefore it isn't switched on constantly or every day, if it was I have no doubt Norton would update every day, but in the economic climate we are in, were we are recommended NOT to leave electrical equipment switched on constantly, surely, in this day & age, Norton should have a method were the anti Virus doesn't block use on the internet until it has completed the Live update & should be quicker then 30 minutes!
BRING BACK MCAfee! NEVER had any issues with that!
If your PC is running a Windows operating system unless you have a pressing need to use BT Protect just remove Norton and use the built in Microsoft Defender Antivirus.
While it might not have all the bells and whistles, many of which are already available/built in with most web browsers, that Norton or McAfee offer it runs automatically on the system and updates in the background and works without any user tinkering.
Open your browser and disable any Norton extensions you've installed, they really are the pits
