Google Nest WiFI & BT TV Pro - IPC6023

Hi,

I've today received my BT TV Pro box and have set this up wirelessly to connect to my Google Nest WiFi. Successfully connects and apps work but get the dreaded 'IPC6023' when trying to watch live TV.

I've already searched the forum and see various posts around this error and the suggestion that BT TV simply won't work with Nest WiFi due to a lack of multicast support. There are workarounds noted by connecting the BT TV box to a switch between ONT and Nest WiFi but this is not viable with the location of my ONT and TV box.

Is someone able to confirm if there has there been success getting BT TV to work through Google  / Nest WiFi products and that multicast is supported on them?

I've also seen posts suggesting sometimes the issue was resolved with an exchange configuration change to enable multicasting - what's the quickest way to get this checked out?

I've already tried restarting the ONT and router to no avail. It's not an option for me to use the BT Smart Hub either.

I have FTTP which reliably reports 150 down, 30 up so there is no speed issue on my network.

Hopefully I have covered all bases, thanks for help,

Regards

Gareth

Re: Google Nest WiFI & BT TV Pro - IPC6023

@garethwright14 Welcome back to the community. If your router doesn't support multicast, then you may encounter the IP6023 error on BT TV. This error occurs because the TV streams are not passing through your router. To verify if your network configuration is causing the issue, you can connect the Smart Hub 2 for testing purposes. If the TV channels work with the Smart Hub, then the Google Nest is likely the culprit. Please note that BT cannot provide technical support for your own equipment. However, other customers have shared on the community that they installed the Smart Hub to use BT TV and connected their own routers to the Hub via ethernet.

Thanks

Neil
