Sky are just misleading by saying hd as standard.
All they mean is you dont have to pay for hd.
The only upgrade is for UHD
So more channel changes are happening with Freeview and some of these include channels that are on the Internet TV Channels listing.
My question is does this affect the internet channels as this would mostly be down to frequency changes or can BT make up their own rules/protocols as it is their own service?
Major Freeview channel update with nearly 20 changes > RXTV info
Also I am aware that the CiTV channel will be closing next month, so there should be atleast one change by August 2023, busy year 🤣
@Weerab1983 I think they're only obliged to carry the main five channels and anything else is part of an extended commercial arrangement but I could be wrong
@NigelB72 time will tell.
I don't think they were obliged to have it as a product/service in the first place.
I think they did it as a competitive product as Sky and Virgin had been working on their own.
As the BT offering has not been updated to keep up with the competition and availability of other possible channel inclusions, and therefore is becoming insignificant.
I would expect that the BTTV IP channel number for 5SelectHD to change to allign with the Freeview 5Select move. That is my expectation based upon YouView previous policy on channel numbering.
Bt make me feel that the tv side of things is just a bit on the side for them. They do not want to spend or progress the tv side of things hence no more channels in ip mode.. i hope they prove me wrong as i would love to leave sky for something similar but all the while its youview and NOW im not sure i could.. Its not as though its cheaper
It is cheaper just now for the Now TV Entertainment package at £10 for the whole contract and the Discovery channel.
Sky Stream is about £25 so BT is £5 cheaper at its usual price.
More of the premium Discovery channel's would give it a boost.
BTTV IP channel number for 5SelectHD has indeed changed to 46 to allign with the Freeview 5Select move.
And the internet channel listing still hasn't been updated to reflect this.
Perhaps it is down to the move to EE taking precedence.
