I have a gmail and a btinternet.com email address. When I try to forward email from my gmail to my BT account I get the following error message and the email does not get through.
554 Message rejected for policy reasons (2.1.2.3)
Can you please let me know how I get my gmail account unblocked by BT.
Thanks
Hi @eunicewood, sorry you having this error when forwarding emails from your gmail account.
Does this happen with every email you try to forward?
Does the email have any attachments?
Cheers
John
There is another almost identical post but from different poster - or same poster just different name?

I have a similar problem in that a friend who uses gmail gets this same 554 message when trying to send a message to my bt email. Strangely though, if I send an email to her, she can send a reply using my sent email with no problem, but she can’t send an email from scratch. I checked my blocked senders, nothing in there, so I added her gmail address to my safe senders, but it made no difference. These are not long emails or with attachments, probably no more than a few sentences. She has had to resort to emailing to my windows Mail outlook.com address which isn’t ideal as I don’t usually use that, but she can send ok from gmail to that. I have seen loads of questions about this on the community forums but having read most of them can’t seem to find a solution.
Yes all forwarded emails but also any emails I send to any BTaddresses. Thanks

That's because BT will NOT properly investigate this and similar issues, and treating each one received as though it's a new fault. They don't consider any route causes, just one at a time. They simply don't get it. Solve the underlying issue, and they will then not have to deal with many individual cases. That alone would save vast amounts of time.
Another oddity! This morning, my gmail friend actually sent me a direct message through to my bt mail. Sent and received without any problem. An hour later she tries to send something else - but once again got the 554 blocking message. This whole scenario started about a week ago, suddenly. Had no problems before with gmail friend sending direct or replying to my bt messages. Thought it had resolved itself earlier this morning, but obviously not.
Hi @eunicewood,
I am sorry that you're still unable to send emails from your gmail account to your friend.
How long ago did you contact our Postmaster? Did you follow our Best practices guide?
Thanks
DanielS
I am still unable to receive bt emails from my gmail user friend. Having read the Moderator's latest reply, I read the best practice guidelines and also noted at the bottom that the Postmaster does not seem to reply to home users, as per "The postmaster team will not respond to queries raised by BT consumer customers who report send/receive issues. You’ll find advice on this here.". Then, when clicking on the "here" link, it opens on a blank page! So it seems there wasn't much point in my bt email to the postmaster.
I'm sorry to encroach on eunicewoods original query, but her problem and my problem are pretty much the same, and having spent a lot of time looking at all the similar questions about the 554 message rejection, there doesn't seem to be any satisfactory resolution that i can find. Is it a problem with gmail or bt mail. Does anybody even know?!
