So, a number of months ago Outlook said i needed to confirm my password, which i did - never accepted it
Have tried two different versions of outlook, including the recent one that was released - still can not sign in.
Purchased a brand new laptop as i old laptop came to the end of it's life, fresh install of everything, still can not log in.
User name & password is correct - can log in on the web
Any ideas? Says an app password may be needed, can not find it anywhere
From other similar posts it seems that Outlook & BT mail servers really don't like each other. Unless there's a compelling reason why you must use Outlook, I'd try another mail client such as Mozilla's Thunderbird.
BT email doesn't require an app password and therefore doesn't supply one.
Use the advanced settings button and the settings given here for IMAP
