Sub Accounts

Hi, I have had my BT email address for about 20 years. When I used to log in I could see the sub accounts that I had for my children but I can no longer see them. I need to link up my son's phone with his BT account but can't remember the password and without seeing the sub accounts I don't know how to change it.

Not sure what I've done over the years but it's not the same password that I use for my phone.. just wondered if anyone could guide me please

Thankyou 🙂

Re: Sub Accounts

If you are referring to the drop down box showing email accounts in the menu of your email account this fuction is no longer available.

Have you logged onto your MyBT then going to "Your Products" then "Mail, Manage" to see if you can see the email accounts there?

When did your son last use the email account?

If he is still using it why don't you ask him for the email password?

Have you used the "forgotten password" link on the log on page?

BTMail

Did you "gift" the email account to your son which would mean he would have his own MyBT in order to manage the email account?

See link and sub links about "gifted" accounts.

Re: Sub Accounts

Hi

Many thanks for your reply. His account is still active, as the emails come through onto our computer but all of the passwords that I have tried won't work on his iphone.

Sorry to sound ditzy but no i havent used forgotten password on the log on page as I know this password but it won't work on his phone. As you can tell I'm not very technical, so I might have to get my IT man round to sort it as my son will need to access his BT mails as he is in the process of joining the army.

I didn't gift him the email address as I don't use premium email

Thanks again for your help 🙂

Re: Sub Accounts

You don't need Premium Mail to gift an email address. Unless you are a BT broadband customer, you won't be able to gift the address in any case.

If you are no longer a broadband customer or Premium mail customer, he won't be able to access email via an app on his phone anyway, only a web browser.

Re: Sub Accounts

"Gifting" an email account is not just if you have BT Premium email. It is used on the "normal" BTMail account as it allows the person to whom you gifted the email account to to manage it themselves and set their own password without the main account holder being involved.

In your first post you stated that you did not know the password for the email account and now you say that you know the email account password but you are unable to set up the email account on your son's iPhone.

Could you clarify what exactly is the problem and what happens when you are setting the email account up as they are two separate issues and require different answers and actions on your or your son's part.

As a starter, are you or your son able to access the email account using the direct email log on page in this link.

Has the email account been frequently getting used, as in has it been used to send emails as well as receive them?

Re: Sub Accounts

As an aside, if your son is joining the Army, good luck to him and I wish him well.

I would in view of this suggest that you or your son set up a gmail email account. He will find that it is more reliable than the BTMail account and he will be able to use it anywhere in the world that he may get posted to where as the BTMail email account can be "flacky" to say the least when used out side the UK.
