My opinion is that BT or any other provider, should not be intercepting any calls, and should have an obligation to deliver all calls to the end user, for them do decide what to do with them.
Much like Royal Mail has an obligation to deliver all post, even if its junk mail.
The only exceptions being, where an investigation into malicious calls have been requested, or for the purposes of a crime investigation.
Any system that selectively stops calls reaching their destination, could stop urgent calls from doctors or hospitals, Police, or a relative who is trying to get hold of you urgently.
My phone shows all calls, even if they are blocked by Call Guardian, and the phone does not ring.
There is a new scam doing the rounds, where a unnamed woman leaves a message on your answering machine, referring to your first name, and asking you to call her back, saying that she has already left a message three times before, which of course is easy to check on the phones call log (if it has one), if people bother to do that.
Needless to say, I did not call back, and there have been no more calls from that number.
Easy for them to repeat the call using a different first name, and someone is bound to take the bait and call her back.
Call protect is the alternative to having a caller display list and a cut down version of call guardian
