DV email

Hi all,

Just had the initial email for DV.  Bit vague on the dates, though.  We’ll be moving you to DV etc…maybe in few weeks…or months…or possibly a year.  Aaaaaargh!

There are things I need to modify before this goes through so some real notice would be nice.  Anybody out there able to give me a better idea on the actual lead time between this email and the change over please?

From other forum posts it could be a few weeks or few months or even longer.  You can try phoning FTTP TEAM who deal with DV who may be able to help 08005874787

Thanks for that.  Unfortunately, it’s what I feared.

The email is actually no use to anybody.  Why do BT even send out nonsense like this?  I’ve had spam that’s been more useful.

In most cases I think you'll get a date after 4 weeks from initial Comms.

It's better to get prepared now rather than wait for the switch over date

Yes, thanks for that.

I didn’t expect a precise timeframe but that email is so open-ended as to be useless.  No doubt, someone thinks it serves a purpose.

Yes the initial Comms is a heads up - a way to start making you think about what you need to do to get prepared along with a prompt to make you start having those conversations.

E.g if you have alarms systems that need to be checked for compatibility or upgraded along with those that have medical/care devices or if you need extra help getting it set up. Having those conversations with BT and the supplier/provider of the devices now will help make sure you are prepared and that you are offered the appropriate solutions and support during the switch over.

I received confirmation of the DV order 4-5 weeks after the initial email and letter. More cards followed through the door. When you get the order confirmation you have 1 week notice before the changeover actually happens.

So 5-6 weeks end to end from my experience.

Excellent.  That’s more like a working timeframe.

Coincides with the lecky meter being replaced.  Can I time it or what?  You watch.  They'll flick the switch for DV and the electricity will go off at the same time, I bet.   Lol

I’m in the East Midlands so part of the regional switchover.  

So far I’ve had a general info letter, another get ready letter and today, 2 postcards inviting me to order either the adaptor or handsets. There is a weblink in the postcard (or you can order via text) which asks you for your telephone number which then generates a code to enter into the BT Shop checkout page. 

The order is in for the free adaptor so I assume there will be a period of waiting for the actual switchover letter to arrive.
