If your phone base unit is that close to the BT Hub, you don't actually need the adapter and the base unit would be better off plugged into the Hub, but understand your reluctance to move things.

To be honest, I suspect that if you can get someone to assist with moving the base unit connection from the adapter to the hub it will meet with greater success than talking to BT.
