Digital Voice Router

Hi All,

First post so be gentle.....

About 2 weeks ago I received through the post a new Smart Hub 2 out of the blue.  Having not ordered it I put it to one side in the hope that I would find time to send it back.

A couple of days later my home phone stops working.   After running the automated checks it said nothing was wrong so I spoke to an advisor to be told that the home phone was not switched over to Digital Voice.

A couple of years ago we had fttp installed to have essentially a fibre cable for broadband and copper for the home phone.

Ive spent a lot on Netgear routers and mesh as the BT hubs are generally not that great.   I now realise that I will have to change my netgear router (AC3200 R8000 triband) for the BT one which I dont really want to do.

Is there an alternative to this? i.e is it possible to get a new netgear router with the green phone socket in or can I use my existing router with an adapter from the ethernet port to a phone port?

Im hoping im not "stuck" with the BT one.

Any help, thoughts, ideas, etc, etc to overcome this issue.

Thanks.

Re: Digital Voice Router

@justinb01

the post from @jac_95 with the FAQ will answer most of your questoions and also use search and there are numerous posts on how to configure the SH2 with another router

to use DV you must connect the SH2 to the ONT

Re: Digital Voice Router

I have a similar question myself. I have effectively binned my DV handset (by which I mean it is gathering dust somewhere in the house) and diverted all incoming calls to my mobile which of course is a free service when using a BT mobile.

My question then is the very predictable one of, is call diversion to an EE mobile also free of charge?

I suspect that it will be but have been unable to find anything online to confirm it and lack the necessary confidence in any advice CS might offer to waste my time asking them

Re: Digital Voice Router

Calls to any service other than BT mobile will be charged at the standard rate for calls to that service. If these calls are available within any inclusive call package, they will be costed within it.
