Hi, i placed an order to move to Digital Voice on my copper ADSL Line and was supposed to have been transferred on Friday(yesterday) .
I came home from work and my Home Hub 6 was showing an orange light. Today (Saturday), my Smart Hub 2 arrived. I connected that up and still an orange light.
I've rung BT and the agent didn't think Digital Voice was available on copper ADSL, and he's raised a case to investigate.
Anybody on here have Digital Voice on ADSL2+?
(My PSTN phone still has dial tone, but can't make any phone calls)
Well, it turns out you can't have DV on a copper ADSL line. BT have incorrectly placed an order for DV, by Ceasing my PSTN line,(which has also ceased my Broadband line).
They are now re-instating my PSTN line and I should have Broadband back in 7 days time.
I will then hopefully be able to reclaim my old PSTN number, which is currently sat on the IDV IP platform.
DV will be possible on ADSL, its just not available yet, so it cannot be ordered.
Personally I cannot see any reason why you would want to move to DV voluntarily.
You may have difficulty getting a PSTN connection back, as its no longer possible to request them.
Hello Keith.
That's strange as I thought that I was told here, categorically that ADSL DID support DV. I posed a similar question here some time ago. I realise that this would only go as far as the end of 2025 however.
Its waiting implementation. I believe a few rural ADSL only customers will be trialled first. Its not really a priority at the moment, as there are loads of VDSL customers to do first.
There is no compelling reason for anyone to voluntarily move to DV.
What is possible is to have Digital Voice with a Fibre To The Cabinet connection. ie copper still being used from the cabinet to the house rather than a full fibre FTTP connection.
Not for me it wouldn't as FTTP and FTTC are readily available but I DON'T want it until I have to i.e towards the end of of 2025. I'm not a chaser of stratospheric speeds, for my current and future uses.
