Digital voice contract

Just contemplating whether it is really worth us continuing with our plan of £12 per month unlimited calls for the little we use it. Will be considering our entire BT contract in a couple of months so, if we were to switch to another provider, can they also provide a home telephone number via digital voice technology and , if so, I presume it would entail a new number?

You need to ask the other provider that question. It won't be 'Digital Voice' as that is proprietary to BT but they may provide their own version.

If you don't use your phone I fail to see why you need anyone to provide the service.

You can either remove the telephony portion of your BT contract altogether or simply remove the unlimited calls plan and revert to PAYG.
