Digtal Voice

Hi. I'm due to be changed over to Digital Voice next week. I need to keep a mixture of corded and cordless phones. Does anyone know the maximum REN that a Smart Hub 2 can handle?

@GeoffO1

I recently carried out some basic tests on the Smart Hub 2 to determine its power supply requirements and ringing output parameters.  I'll publish my findings, hopefully in the next few days, on a suitable website to which I will post a link on this thread.

Thanks for that. I've searched everywhere I can think of but not found any information so far. I'm sure there must be other people who need to know. I look forward to seeing your findings.

Re: Digtal Voice

according to the manual, the number of DV handsets that can be registered via DECT is 5 : https://www.bt.com/content/dam/bt/help/digital-voice/BT_Essential_Digital_Home_Phone_specification.p...

Re: Digtal Voice

Thanks but I won't be using DV handsets. I've got perfectly serviceable analogue equipment that I have no intention of scrapping. The limit of 5 DV handsets is irrelevant, what I am trying to find out is the REN capability of the router i.e. how much ringing current it can supply. DV handsets will supply their own ringing current from the internal battery.

Re: Digtal Voice

Thanks for the link but it still doesn't give a figure for the SH2  ringing capability. It looks as if the answer will be try it and if it works just accept it. It's a bit like my days as an OMI when we were told "The official REN limit is 4 but if the customer wants more and it works, that's the limit"

Please stop making totally pointless posts that have no relevance to the question asked.

The OP wishes to know the REN equivalence of the SH2 phone port.
