Future voice moving to Digital Voice.

We have a FTTP installation for a number of years now with a BT voice product called Future Voice.  As part of the install at the time, the Engineer enabled the extensions in the house to work.  I've attached a few pictures below to explain the set up.

 

There's a cable coming from Tel on the Openreach modem which goes into the back of the main smaller openreach plug socket which was somehow linked to enable the extensions.  All was working fine on Future voice with all extensions ringing.

Today, we've been moved across to Digital Voice.  The phone lines all stopped working so we moved the cable that was in the open reach Tel port into the back of the home hub.  We now have working extensions, however the only phone that will omit a ringing noise when the number is called is the phone plugged into the the open reach smaller socket (which is a mobile handset with it's own electricity supply)in the pictures.  All other extensions allow to you answer the call and dial out, however none are triggering the phone to actually ring.  Any ideas or suggestions how to get them to ring?

The only socket for use with a phone is the green phone socket for digital voice which may be covered by a sticker

Hi, yes the cable is plugged into the green socket on the hub. The extensions work but only one phone is emitting a ringing sound when a call comes in.

@Noringtone2022 If your existing phones require a separate "ring" wire (pin 3) to enable them to ring, then you may need to add a microfilter in the circuit, as that has additional components that connect the "ring" wire to the main line, which allows the ringing current to those phones.

It may seem a bit odd to use a microfilter for that purpose, but it does fix the problem.

All modern phones only require a two wire connection, which is why BT say that older phones may not work, however the addition of the microfilter overcomes that limitation.

Plug the microfilter into the green socket on the home hub, then plug the phone extension into the phone outlet on the microfilter.

This is also an issue if people use the digital adapter, as that is only a two wire presentation.

The "future voice" connection to the ONT, must have been a three wire presentation, with the "ring" wire enabled.

Its simply a capacitor that is missing, which would have taken up extra space in the home hub, and the DV adapter, as its quite large in comparison to other electronic components. It is however present in the microfilter.

@jac_95  Something that may be worth mentioning in the FAQs, as it would apply to older phones with a three wire presentation.
