Help for vulnerable elderly person

My mum is 86 , lives alone and has has a repeated faulty BT Landline.

Her nearest relatives are 2 hours away, the most recent report has resulted in a message to say an engineer will be there next week.  
 She has a phone linked emergency pendant and has had a stroke.  Her land line is vital to connect her to the outside world.

any idea how to get this fixed sooner and permanently

I have asked a mod to see if they can help but being friday next week might be earliest for openreach    mod will post here
