Hi @NeilO, I was able to select the number I wanted when placing the order. Just rang BT to check and they said so far it looks like it's going through ok, BT have placed the order and Openreach have confirmed they will give it to me. But this can change in the future so being asked to check on this daily.
@LavazzaMan It's a good sign that you were able to select the number from the outset as a few basic availability checks would have been carried out to see if it was spare and available. However, due to what has happened between Sky and Plusnet we would never be able to give you a guarantee that there won't be issues but it does sound promising for now.

Good evening everyone,
An update a month on from my original post. I have now had my BT line activated with a new landline number. BT have provided excellent customer service so far and have tried to port the old number across but it was rejected by Sky.
Sky have since said that this would need to be done manually and requires BT's number porting team to email across a request for a "favour port" to their number porting team. I'm not sure exactly what this means but Sky have insisted this is a standard procedure across all telecoms providers. Is anyone able to help me with this?
