Thank you both. Optimised on Deco again. So now a case of wait and see if there are any 'dad's fault' outcries from10-year-old's room?
Re the Firestick, I am guessing these changes will make no difference re the issues we are having with it? Or, do you suspect that removing the ugreen ethernet connection would actually have a positive result?
Provided you are not getting BT Digital Voice, you can change the Deco from access mode, to router mode, once you get FTTP. The Deco will then connect directly to the ONT. I assume you are in access mode at the moment?
You need to put the PPPoE credentials into the App, to allow it to connect to BT broadband.
At the moment your ethernet adapter for the Firestick is faster than your internet, if you are getting a new FTTP package above 100Mbps then WIFI will have a positive result, however really the Firestick doesnt need any more than this. My point earlier was just to say that if the Firestick is relatively close to the nearest WIFI AP (in your case DECO) then the ethernet adapter is some what not worth it.
Hardwiring has other benefits though such as if the DECO's have a software update the TV will still work whilst they reboot, im not saying remove, more that really its not making much difference.
Hey dude, for some reason you seem to be replying to the wrong person each time 🙂 It hasnt mattered so far but @Keith_Beddoe can answer on the DECO specifics such as PPPOE for your new FTTP.
You probably dont need to worry about it now until the FTTP goes live though.
Its on the advanced menu, it will tell you what mode it is in.
As you are connecting to the home hub, it should be in access point mode, otherwise the Deco will use its own IP subnet resulting in double NAT, which can affect gaming.
In access point mode, the Deco will be on the same IP subnet as the home hub.
Thank you
The BT router (now with WiFi disabled and Firestick connected via ethernet to BT router) is within a foot of the TV. The Deco main unit is around 6ft away, connected to BT router via ethernet.
Ah! Sorry
I thought when I hit reply it would go to the person's post I am replying to and by adding @Keith_Beddoe, for example, I would copying in the person whose post I am not replying to. Hope this makes sense.
Its okay, I picked through it.
