Re: Full fibre 900

Quick follow up

Had my 1gig BT fibre for almost 3 weeks now. Connection has dropped a few times to 10mbs had to power off the brand new BT hub switch back on and then it was back to full speed 980mbps = 123mbs a sec.

Also noticed the router limits wifi speeds to 450 - 600mbps this will catch a lot of people out, my pc has 2.5gb ethernet plus Wifi 6E obviously i tested both connections.

My price plan is £60 a month then they drop price to new customers after i had signed up to £50 but i'm still stuck on £60 a month lol.

Anyway i'm Hardwired from router to high end PC via 2.5gb ethernet cable to ensure full connection etc.

I originally planned using my trusty Tplink 1gig ethernet plugs but they would only give me 200mbps i'm guessing the electrics of the house were limiting things not something i noticed on my old BT 70mbps connection.

My free xbox game pass for one year has NOT shown up in my BT account so can't activate or use it either.

At least wired i am getting good download speed literally 12 times my old connection very pleased with that although upload speeds are capped very low at 100mbps = 11mbs roughly.

Re: Full fibre 900

I know I'm over a year late in replying to your post

I got BT 100 installed having upgraded from the good old copper based internet. They somehow lost my phone number and basically didn't port it over and after many phone calls they said if I upgraded to be team 900 they would be able to bring my number over and reinstate it. I need my number so I was in a way forced to do exactly that however it took another four weeks to my number to be ported over which now I have... But I've never reached a speed of 900. In fact sometimes I was getting a measly 0.7 MPs download, the best I've had is 385 when standing right on top of the smart hub 2 to try again straight away it seems to come all the way down to 120. The upload is fantastic 100 to 110 . This all started on January the 13th, we are into March and I'm still having problems with the speed with appointments being made and not kept, however yesterday openreach came and said the speed was perfect to the router and it has to be the router problem, saying that BT did send me a new one (although I believe it was a refurbished older one) as it did exactly the same not reaching the expectations.

So virtually two months on I am paying for bt-900 and just about getting a b t 100 service, they are now sending me yet another router as I said I wanted to try it, as I am hoping that the replacement one I got previously was again a faulty, meanwhile I have an erratic speed out I've forgot to mention a lot of dropouts on my connection

I have dictated this so the grammar may not be that good my apologies

But I just wanted to share that you're not the only one that's had this problem, that feels a little bit like being on the M25 , where you think you're getting somewhere but you end up in the same place

Re: Full fibre 900

Nice little review left over at Compare Broadband Packages about BT Full Fibre 900

If I recall, they mentioned something about the WiFi tech in the router being outdated and not being able to keep up with the Speed of the broadband

Re: Full fibre 900

It's a WiFi 5 router.  With the right client you could still get a Wifi connection of 1732Mbps, though the through put would be less.  But you'd need a 4x4 WiFi 5 client to do this - which is about as rare as hens teeth.  In my earlier screen shot you can see a client connected to my WiFi 6 router on a 2x2 160 Mhz, that's also not particularly common.  This does show though, that the client is often as much an issue as the router!

I only learn by making mistakes and owning up to them - boy do I learn a lot!

Re: Full fibre 900

I have the old Home hub 3, and will soon get the Smart Hub 2 with 900 fibre.

The HH3 has 4 yellow ethernet and 1 red.

The HH2 smart only has 4 yellow sockets.

Currently I have 4 hardwired, 1 to Sky Q and  3 Desktop pcs in other rooms in use.

with the HH smart 2 I will be 1 socket short, how can i get around this?  Is there an adapter  available to increase the number of sockets on the Hub?

Thanks.

Re: Full fibre 900

You simply need a 4 port unmanaged Ethernet switch.
